History of K.D. Jones Instruments

About Us: K.D. Jones Instrument Corporation is a woman owned small business that rents geophysical equipment for a wide variety of engineering and geological applications. Our personnel have the geologic, electronic and field experience to help you choose the right instruments for the job and to guide you through the operation of the instrument if you are unfamiliar with it.

Location: Our offices are located in the vicinity of Normangee, Texas which is 11 miles west of I-45 about halfway between Houston and Dallas. We elected to office in a rural setting for a couple of reasons:

  1. It is a great place to live.
  2. But more importantly it provides us with the space to test and demonstrate equipment and train customers to operate our equipment under real field conditions. We can lay out long spreads of electrodes or geophones, or use any seismic energy source without bring down the wrath of neighbors or government officials.

History: B.R. Jones and Associates Inc. was organized in 1981 to represent manufacturers of geophysical equipment in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Mississippi. The company owned equipment for demonstration to potential customers but occasionally rented it when it was not needed for other purposes. As the use of geophysical instruments increased in non oil and gas industries the demand for equipment rentals outgrew an “occasional” rental and our four state area. In 1997 it was decided for legal, accounting and other reasons to separate equipment rentals and sales. B.R. Jones & Associates, Inc. retained the sales of equipment and K.D Jones Instrument Corporation was organized to rent equipment. The two companies share facilities and some personnel.
